Review: I stumbled upon this tale, after some hours of browsing the fanfic networks, and being an expatriate from Maryland, I was intrigued and a bit skeptic when I began reading. Having moved away so long ago, I was startled at the accuracy of the depictions, from the syntax to the characters constant outings to overpriced (however delicious) restaurants. It gave me a strange mix of feelings, from being underwhelmed to being totally immersed in the world the author created. There was an aching amount effort put into making the setting real, and could probably only be done by someone who has lived in, or is from the area, and I was impressed by that realism, even if to me seemed to verge on being overdone.

Not being a big fan of uber, and having really missed the boat (obviously if I’m getting around to reading this stuff now haha), of course I found the characterizations to be predictable and the circumstances of the action scenes to be a bit cookie cutter, but then I came to realize that’s not why I read fan fiction. I don’t read it to see something completely new or to find some sort of catharsis embedded in its structure, I read it to seek comfort and to be entertained. I read to find bits of my mania reflected in another who shares the interest, who understands the fun of losing yourself so fully in another world that it becomes your our story.

This tale, for me, brought me back home, back to where I first kindled the love for a good story. It was an amazing read, and left me with that great afterglow of a tale well spun. Thanks a lot, damn good work!
